Welcome to the website of Portland-based pianist and composer Matt Tabor. Take some time to learn more, listen to some music, and find out when and where to catch a live performance.

I recently had the opportunity to work with my friend, saxophonist and composer Bryan Smith, on two very different album projects. The first is a collection of his originals ranging from chamber music to country. The second project was made possible by a Regional Arts and Culture Council grant and featured the nature-themed poetry of Matt Spohn. I am proud of this music and was lucky enough to work with such wonderful musicians as Ryan Meagher, Jonas Oglesbee and Andrew Jones. Both albums are available for purchase and streaming. "Tabor’s solos on this and other pieces suggested an intriguing sense of touch and dynamics. He’s someone to keep an ear on."

Back in 2012 I had the opportunity to work as orchestrator and arranger on an original musical play written by my father entitled Recognition. The play won a Portland Area Musical Theater Award for Outstanding Ensemble:
It also recieved PAMTA nominations for Outstanding Female Actor, Outstanding Orchestrations, Outstanding Original Song, Outstanding Original Score and Outstanding Originalshow:
Recently I had the chance to take some musicians into the studio and document our hard work in a cast recording of Recognition! I'm excited to announce that the album is now available to stream and purchase here:
